Thank goodness the Tierneys are really into Jeopardy:) They got extra tickets for 2008 College Championship edition of Jeopardy being held at the Kohl Center, and since we've already established I enjoy crowds, I went! Here are my three interesting tidbits about the show: - Security was harder than the Obama ralley - That's right - metal detectors, no photos of any kind (they made me take the batteries out of my camera), cells phone must be turned off.
- Alex Trebek is hilarious - They take commercial breaks (even though it's not live), during which Alex goes into the crowd and answers questions, tells stories, etc. Trebek is incredibly well spoken and you can tell he's been doing this forever. Since it is a college town, 3+ people asked Trebek to go to a party/bar after the show - to which he responded he'd received a number of those invitations, all by guys, and he's looking for the right kind of invitation... Someone else asked about his wildest night in college. He told two stories, one a cute story about a girl and talking in a public phone booth in the cold. The other story about him and his friend drinking 16-17 pints in a bar and then getting hit by a car. Or, more correctly, Trebek may have hit the car...
- They reshot the ending?! - One of the contestants, when calculating the overall winner, hugged the wrong person! Mass confusion/hilarity ensues. They also had to reshoot Trebek asking a question where he mispronounced the Iranian president's name:)
